As the deadlines for the first calls for project proposals under the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) approach, the new Electronic Proposal Submission Service (EPSS) has been launched to facilitate submitting proposals online. The EPSS allows users to propose projects by creating their proposal completely online without having to download or save anything locally on their own personal computer. The service is available via the internet as a Web-based application and requires only a standard web browser, with no special software. The EPSS is the method for preparing and submitting proposals in FP7. It provides a secure work space for a consortium to prepare and submit a proposal jointly. To begin with, EPSS is available for the open calls under the 'Health' theme in the 'Cooperation' programme, as well as some calls in the 'People' and 'Ideas' programmes and calls under 'Research potential' and 'Regions of knowledge' in the 'Capacities' programme. For full details, please consult the 'Latest Calls Information' box on the CORDIS FP7 'Find a call' page (see link below). In order to access the EPSS, users have to choose which call, and which sub-scheme within the call, they want to prepare a proposal for. This can be accessed via the CORDIS FP7 'Find a call' page. After selecting the relevant call there, the user will arrive at the specific call page. Here, in the box 'Preparation and Submission of Proposals', choosing the relevant sub-scheme and clicking on 'Go' will send the user to the EPSS start page. Here, users can register their details in order to receive their login username and password, as well as download the 'EPSS user guide'. The user's login data can then be used at a later date when returning to a saved proposal under preparation. For each new proposal, users need to register again.
