'Global perspectives on Europe in a multi-polar world', Brussels, Belgium
[2011-09-07]
An event entitled 'Global perspectives on Europe in a multi-polar world' will take place on 21 September 2011 in Brussels, Belgium.
Europe faces a number of challenges in ensuring that European interests are defined, articulated, and promoted in ways that influence the ongoing processes of global change. These questions are crucial to the EU's role as a global actor and its place within the changing global order.
The conference is being organised by the EU-funded 'Global re-ordering: evolution through European networks' (GREEN) project. A large collaborative project funded under the Seventh Framework Research Programme (FP7), it has several principle components: a conceptual analysis of an emerging multi-polar world and international organisations within it, the evolution of EU policy and practice, the effects of regional leadership from Africa, Asia-Pacific and the Americas on global governance, policy specific studies on the EU and multi-polarity within the fields of human rights and security, energy, resources and environment, trade and finance.
The event will launch the project, and highlight the nature of the EU in a multi-polar world through a panel discussion and open debate.
