Implementation of EDIFACT messages
EUROSTAT, the EU's Statistical Office has recently published an invitation to tender for the provision of informatics services in the context of their activities on Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) standardisation and the SERT project within the framework of the Community's Interchange of Data between Administrations (IDA) programme. The use of EDI is becoming pivotal in the areas of raw data collection, reference data transfer and the dissemination of statistics. A set of generic EDIFACT (EDI for Administration, Commerce and Transport) messages has been developed for the statistical sector: - GESMES - generic standard message for transmitting multi-dimensional statistical data; - RDRMES - raw data reporting message; - CLASET - classification exchange message. In some specific statistical areas, further EDIFACT messages are being used, for example, the CUSCAR message for transport statistics. This call for tender aims at supporting the implementation of EDIFACT messages for various statistical domains at EUROSTAT, in EU Member States and candidate countries.
