The European Commission, DG VII, has published an invitation to tender for a study on short-term trends in the European transport market which will provide information for various transport policy purposes. The project aims at establishing a market observation system by collecting existing information on the development of forecasts on trends in the current year, in order to provide reliable information about current trends in the transport market. The transport parameters to be covered by the study are passenger kilometres and tonne kilometres by mode (all modes) and EU Member State. The analysis of transport performance trends should be related to the general development of the economy and to other relevant transport supply and transport demand-related factors (such as vehicle stock, infrastructure provision, pricing, etc.).
