R&D information on the Mid-West of Ireland
The seventh CORDIS regional service, providing a wide range of research and innovation information on the Mid-West of Ireland, has recently been launched. The information contained on the new homepage has been provided by the Mid-West Regional Authority and Shannon Development, a regional economic development company responsible for industry and tourism. The new regional service grants easy access to a wide range of information on research activities and related research infrastructure in the region. Introducing the region, the service provides key statistics on population and employment figures, as well as urban and rural landscapes. The infrastructure feature provides links to all the research and development related institutes in the region, and a networks and services feature provides links to information on the region's participation in activities at European level. Research and development activities are described in both a regional and European context and a spotlight feature provides an overview of the Regional Innovation Strategy (RIS), supported by the European Regional Development Fund, which will be completed at the end of 1998.
