In order to assess the results of the LEONARDO DA VINCI programme for the implementation of a European Community vocational training policy, the European Commission, DG XXII, will launch an invitation to tender for an overall assessment of the programme. This assessment will be based on systematic analyses of all the results obtained by pilot projects supported by the programme in 15 fields. It is expected that the contract will commence in March 1999 for a period of six months. The contract will be divided into lots, corresponding to the following themes: - Methods of anticipating new skills and of adapting systems; - Development of accreditation procedures for new skills; - Initiatives encouraging the use of support technologies in training; - Transnational cooperation for innovation in vocational training; - Partnership among the different participants; - Quality of vocational training; - Language training and apprenticeship; - Methods and content of apprenticeship and sandwich courses; - Development of the entrepreneurial spirit and training in company management and especially SMEs; - Mobility in the Community area; - Technology transfers and university-company cooperation; - Vocational guidance; - Transition of young people to employment and insertion into the labour market of problem cases among the public, especially the long-term unemployed; - Investment and new financing terms for vocational training; - Equal opportunities and access for women in vocational training; - Vocational training and regional, territorial or local development; - Promotion of new employment pools; - Vocational training for changing or emerging sectors. The Commission plans to publish an invitation to tender at the end of December 1998 or the beginning of January 1999.
