EUROGI (European Umbrella Organisation for Geographic Information) is keen to support a limited number of carefully selected proposals to the Fifth RTD Framework Programme that substantially further its strategic objectives, i.e. to support, encourage and stimulate the use of geographic information at European level. EUROGI intends to disseminate information about the projects that it supports through a special section on its website. It will also provide a platform for presentations about the progress of these projects in its European workshop and conference activities, such as the 'Geodata for all in Europe' workshops. As a result such activities will lead to greater synergy among project participants in this cluster which will benefit all concerned. Additionally, EUROGI can help potential applicants, by bringing them into contact with its member organisations which may be interested in participating in proposals. Potential applicants interested in support from EUROGI should contact the EUROGI secretariat to discuss their proposals. EUROGI was set up in November 1993, as a result of a study commissioned by the European Commission, DG XIII, to develop a unified European approach to the use of geographic information technologies. EUROGI has 18 members - 17 national and one pan-European sectorial organisation.
