Commission to negotiate a Euro-Mediterranean Association Agreement with Algeria
The European Commission has adopted a draft Council recommendation authorizing it to negotiate a Euro-Mediterranean Association Agreement with Algeria. This accord forms part of the drive to strengthen the EU's Mediterranean policy, and follows on from the Euro-Mediterranean conference held in Barcelona in November 1995. The recommendation provides for a Euro-Mediterranean partnership made up of three key components: a political and security component, an economic and financial component, and a social and human component.
