The European Commission, DG XI, has published an invitation to tender concerning the behaviour of PVC in landfill. The aim of the contract, which will cover the whole of the European Union is to undertake the following tasks, in the context of the European Union's waste management policy: - Provide a survey of existing analysis and research as regards the behaviour of PVC in landfills; - Evaluate the environmental impact of PVC waste after final disposal in landfills; - Perform both practical analysis on selected landfill sites, which are representative of landfills in the EU, as well as lysimeter studies; - Estimate the quantities of PVC landfilled as well as the costs of landfilling PVC waste, including the environmental costs.
