Assimilation and standardisation of environmentally friendly packaging technologies within the food industry

Ziel

The primary aim of this network is to disseminate the spread of eco-friendly, recyclable packaging technologies across Europe with the focus of the project directed towards food packaging materials. The network will achieve this through a Concerted Action network to coordinate RTD activities ongoing within member states. The focus of the network will be towards recycling and waste minimisation in food packaging, which will result in lower production costs and more eco-friendly practices. At present, recyclable food packaging is a rapidly developing field which is experiencing continuous technological changes and increases in volume. The project will seek to establish new technologies and practices in the field of recyclable packaging and raise know-how throughout European industry. This will be achieved by combining the ongoing R&D activities with other initiatives that will embrace education, review of legislation and technology transfer.
