What are the Technology Rating Pilot Projects?

Under its action line 'European Networks and Services', the INNOVATION/SMEs Programme is supporting a number of pilot projects to allow financial operators to develop technology rating methodologies specifically aimed at small-scale financing.

1. European Technology Rating (RSE057)

This project aims to design a technical/economic rating system aimed at assessing innovative SMEs in the context of their technological projects. The project will produce a viable method, tested and accepted at European level, enabling companies in the process of developing technological projects to be rated according to the risks. It aims at designing a scale of risk which could be understandable by any potential investor. Throughout the project, other organisations interested in participating at a later date will be encouraged to act as observers and ultimately, to take part in trials to disseminate the system throughout Europe.

The ENTAS project seeks to build on proven technology business appraisal techniques to develop a new financial support product, usable by banks and other providers of early stage, small-scale financing, and delivered by support intermediaries, to identify technology businesses with high growth potential. The objective is to develop a practical, usable and commercially viable method which actively promotes growth amongst innovative SMEs. Throughout the project, other organisations interested in participating at a later date will be encouraged to act as observers and ultimately, to take part in trials to disseminate the system throughout Europe.
