Recent International Meetings
Measurement of RTD Impact/Results (Brussels, 29/29 May 1998)
In the context of the work of the European RTD Evaluation Network the following international meetings have been organised in conjunction with the EU Presidency of the time:
Wien, 3/5 July 1998
"Science and the Academic system in transition - an international expert meeting on evaluation"
Conference organised by the Austrian Advisory Board for Universities in co-operation with the Austrian Ministry for Science and Transport, and the European Commission.
Berlin, 7/8 June 1999
"Evaluation of Science and Technology in the New Europe"
Conference organised by the Fraunhofor Institute Systems and Innovation Research, the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, and the European Commission. The European Science Foundation and the German Volkswagen Foundation have also participated in its organisation.
The Proceedings of this Conference are available in paper form (please address any request to either the Fraunhofer Institute and/or to the RTD Programme Evaluation Unit)
Helsinki, 26/27 November 1999
"Socio-economic Impact Evaluation"
The workshop was organised by TEKES and the DG RTD Programme Evaluation Unit.
The proceedings of this Workshop will be available in paper form either from TEKES or from the above-mentioned Commission Services in October 2000.
Lisbon, 23/24 June 2000
"The Impact on Academic Institutions of Research Evaluation Systems"
The Conference was organised by the Confederation of European Union Rector's Conferences, and supported by the European Commission, the Portuguese Ministry of Science and Technology, the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology, the Portuguese Policy Studies of Higher Education and the Portuguese Rector's Conference.
The Conference Proceedings will be published in December 2000. Copies can be obtained from the above-mentioned Commission Services and the Confederation of European Union Rectors' Conferences.

"Strategic Evaluation: the governance of Science-Society relationships"
The Conferecne will be organised by the French Ministry of Research and the European Commission with the contribution of the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Lyon and the Observatoire des Sciences et des Technologies.
