In implementing the multiannual framework
programme the Community may make provision, in
agreement with the Member States concerned, for
participation in research and development programmes
undertaken by several Member States, including
participation in the structures created for the
execution of those programmes.
This instrument will be restricted to research
initiatives that are beyond the scope of the Integrated
Projects and the Networks of Excellence.
A number of pilot Article 169 proposals will
be determined and presented by the Commission.
