Radiation protection
Main
objectives:
Underpinning EU radiation protection policy to maintain and
improve high levels of protection, in particular to resolve
uncertainties in the field of low and protracted doses.
Thematic
areas:
- Quantification of risks associated with low and protracted
exposure (epidemiological studies, cellular and molecular
biology)
- Medical exposures and natural sources of radiation (enhancing
safety and efficacy of medical uses, better assessment and
management of natural sources)
- Protection of the environment and radioecology (conceptual
and methodological basis)
- Risk and emergency management (better approaches for risk
and emergency management)
- Protection of the workplace (improved moni-toring and
management of occupational exposures)
Budget:
The indicative budget allocated to Radiation protection for
the duration of FP6 is EUR 50 million.
