Main objectives:
| SMEs are encouraged to participate in the activities implemented under the priority thematic areas within NoEs, IPs, and specific targeted research projects. |
In addition, two specific schemes for SMEs having a capacity to innovate but with limited research capacity are foreseen. Within these schemes - Collective Research and Co-operative Research ("CRAFT") - SMEs or groupings dominated by SMEs may entrust research work to solve their particular problems to research performers (research institutes, universities etc.). Ownership of the results will rest with the SMEs or the SME groupings.
A detailed overview of the measures which will be implemented to promote the participation of SMEs in FP6 is available at http://ec.europa.eu/research/sme-techweb/index_en.cfm
