FP6 Step by Step

  What's new in FP6?

design feature
FP6 has major new features including major changes to objectives and instruments and significant changes to subjects and IPR. This section briefly outlines the key differences for potential participants.

  Finding your research theme

design feature
FP6 is not structured by traditional research disciplines, but by current research objectives. This can appear to be a complex structure but in reality there are just a few key elements necessary to understand the overall picture. Here we describe the main structure of FP6 in outline and tell you how and where to get more detailed information.

  Preparing to make a proposal

design feature
The secret to success in FP6 is careful preparation. This can and should start well before a call for proposals is issued. Here we look at the preparation process and the main rules for participation.

  Making and submitting a proposal

design feature
Submitting a proposal requires careful following of a set of rules that are designed to ensure that the competitive process is open, transparent, and fair. Here we look at the main points.

  What happens after submission

design feature
Between the submission of a proposal and the actual start of a project (for proposals selected for funding) there are two main steps implying actions on the side of the Commission and of the proposers: 1. evaluation and selection of proposals, and 2. contract negotiation.

  Managing a project

design feature
Consortia in FP6 have great autonomy and flexibility in managing their projects. The accent of monitoring by the Commission is put on the outputs rather than on the details of internal management of the consortia. This section describes the basic management requirements, reporting duties and mechanisms for problem solving.
