Additional Information:

Erratum: The text at the bottom of page 8 of the call fiche states that the requested Community contribution for topics ENV.2010.3.1.3-2 and ENV.2010.3.1.8-1 "shall not exceed EUR é 500 000". This should read "shall not exceed EUR 2 500 000". This sum is correctly printed in the corresponding cells in the table on pages 4 and 5.

Please be aware that:

  • some browsers, including Safari, do not interact well with EPSS (see EPSS_FAQ for more information);
  • the EPSS does not accept proposals without abstracts. Please make it an early priority to prepare a good abstract.

Our experience shows that the software that some applicants use to convert word processed documents to PDF does not always work correctly. We have also found that applicants sometimes upload the wrong version of the proposal, and that this usually happens in a last-minute rush. We strongly recommend that you upload successive drafts to EPSS, which only keeps the most recently-uploaded version. Each time that you submit your proposal to EPSS, we recommend that you download it again to check that it is the correct version of the proposal, that it was correctly converted to PDF, and that it contains all the correct text, figures, tables and footnotes.

Notice to applicants

1. Method of calculating indirect costs: The Commission has decided to extend the possibility of using the specific flat rate of 60% for indirect costs, (applicable under certain conditions to non-profit bodies, secondary and higher education establishments, research organisations and SMEs) for the entire duration of FP7. The cut-off date for this rate (1/1/2010), mentioned in annex 3 to the Guide for applicants, is therefore no longer applicable.

2. Audits of ongoing projects: The following paragraph should be inserted at the end of chapter 5 of the Guide for Applicants ("What happens next"):

Applicants are reminded that the Commission's Research DGs have adopted a new and reinforced audit strategy aimed at detecting and correcting errors in cost claims submitted in projects on the basis of professional auditing standards. As a result the number of audits and participants audited will increase significantly and the Commission's services will assure appropriate mutual exchange of information within its relevant internal departments in order to fully coordinate any corrective actions to be taken in a consistent way.
