2nd Inflammation, Cancer and Novel Therapeutics Conference and Summer School, Malia, Crete, Greece2nd Inflammation, Cancer and Novel Therapeutics Conference and Summer School will be held on 24-27 September 2012 at the Ikaros Beach Resort & Spa in Malia, on the Greek island of Crete . The meeting aims to stimulate basic research and treatment development in the field of inflammation and cancer, by improving scientific knowledge and developing skills among young researchers. This educational activity is organised by 3 programmes funded by the European Commission under the FP7 framework; INFLA-CARE is a 4-year research initiative on Inflammation and Cancer, TransPOT is a programme funding regional potential in Translational Research and TACIT is a research programme for Targeted Oligonucleotide Carriers in Immunotherapy. We look forward to welcoming students, clinicians and scientists to this summer school where participants will have the unique opportunity to engage in scientific learning with some of the world’s experts in the field of inflammation and cancer.

MYOAGE workshop, The aging human muscle: An integrated machinery, Copenhagen, DenmarkThe last MYOAGE workshop, The aging human muscle: An integrated machinery will be organised in Copenhagen, Denmark by Pr. Bente Pedersen and Pr. Michael Kjaer on August 30th and 31st, 2012. This event will be the last workshop organized in the frame of the large scale collaborative project MYOAGE (www.myoage.eu) as part of its training and dissemination activities. MYOAGE is supported by the 7th Framework Program of the European Commission, it gathers 20 teams from 18 institutions dedicated to understand and combat age related muscle weakness. The workshop is especially dedicated to Ph.D. students and post-docs.
The workshop will address the following topics:
- Muscle, senescence and life span
- Muscle secretome
- Mechanisms in loss of muscle mass and function with ageing.
- Skeletal muscle loss and function: Inside and outside the muscle
