EU funded scholarships for PhD students in micro/nanoelectronics.

R&D ACCESS - Access to research results on semiconductor design

A first version of the RD-ACCESS platform is now operational. During 2012 the data structure will be verified and optimised in order to provide easy access to all semiconductor design results of European projects (FP7).

Horizon 2020 was launched on 30 November 2011. Nearly €6 billion to be invested in Key Enabling Technologies (KETs) .

Study on the Effectiveness of European Nanoelectronics R&D programmes in developing value chains is now available.

'Components' is a new unit in the Directorate General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology created to better facilitate research and innovation within the fields of micro- and nanoelectronics, smart embedded components and systems, as well as hardware and software integration.
In daily life, components allow us for instance to create :
  • more powerful and smarter electronic devices
  • safer and more energy efficient vehicules, including electric cars, for green and sustainable mobility
  • enhanced healthcare and new health applications e.g. predictive medicine

The main driving force behind the development of ICT goods are the Key Enabling Technologies (KETs) , i.e. nanotechnology, micro- and nanoelectronics including semiconductors, advanced materials, biotechnology and photonics .

In the context of KETs, the European scientific knowledge needs to be more strongly pushed to convert into industrially exploited products. We want to improve the innovation flow by closing the gap between advanced research and industrial needs.
