We would like to invite you to register for the FUNEMS2011 Future Network and Mobile Summit, the annual highlight of the EU future networks research, which will be held in Warsaw on 14-17 June 2011. Registration is open with presenter and early bird delegate fees available up to 31 March. The latest Advance Programme and brochure are as well available.

We would also like to thank those of you who attended the Future Networks 7th FP7 Concertation Meeting, organised in Brussels on 10-11 February 2011.The presentations from the plenary and the cluster meetings are available on the event website. A report highlighting the outcomes of the session dedicated to Future Networks standardisation outstanding results of EU research will also be available shortly.

In this newsflash we would also draw your attention on the recently published Green Paper on a Common Strategic Framework for future EU Research and Innovation Funding to consult all the stakeholders on the matter by 20 May.

FUNEMS2011 – Your annual highlight in EU Future Networks research

Future Network and MobileSummit 2011 to take place in Warsaw on 14-17 June 2011 opened the registration with presenter and early bird delegate fees available up to 31 March, announced the Pre-conference Events and published the Advance Programme and brochure. The conference programme is complemented by a demonstration and technology exploitation focused Exhibition.

Pre-Conference Events - Tuesday 14 June

 

Proposers' Networking Day - FP7-ICT Call 8 & Celtic-Plus Call 2
The Proposers' Networking Day, which will take place on Tuesday 14 June as a pre-conference event, will focus on FP7-ICT Call 8 and Celtic-Plus Calls for Proposals. This workshop will be co-organised by Net!Works (previously eMobility), ISI Technology Platforms and Celtic Plus, with support from the European Commission to provide an in-depth overview of these Calls. The afternoon session will be focused on project idea presentations that will be submitted in advance. It is envisaged that the afternoon session will be restricted to those participants who have submitted ideas to be shared focused on preparing proposals.

 

Based on a Call for Pre-Conference Workshops, the following workshops will also take place on Tuesday 14 June 2011:
- Future Internet Cluster Workshop on Future Network Architectures (Full Day)
- European Workshop on Broadband Femtocell Networks (Full Day)
- Putting Mobile Services into Context (Half Day)
- Technologies for LTE-Advanced: from Theory to Practice (Half Day)
- Next Generation Converged Access Networks - Opportunities, Achievements and Challenges (Tuesday afternoon)

ICT Proposers' Day 2011 - Your networking opportunity for EU ICT research & development

The ICT Proposers Day 2011 to take place in Budapest on 19-20 May is dedicated to networking and promoting research & development in the field of Information and Communication Technologies.

The event will provide academia and business sectors, SMEs and government actors from all over Europe a platform for building partnerships and exchange ideas for participating in upcoming calls for proposals offering more than one billion € of EU funding. About 2500 participants are expected to attend. In addition, over 100 Commission officials will be present to provide information on the content of the calls for proposals and advice you on how to submit your proposal.

The on-line networking features of the ICT Proposers' Day 2011 website help proposers to meet virtually future project partners from all over Europe, arrange meetings, share ideas and couple up to apply for EU support.

Green Paper on a Common Strategic Framework for future EU Research and Innovation Funding - European Commission consults on radical changes to create more growth and jobs

On 9 February 2011, the European Commission presented a Green Paper which proposes major changes to EU research and innovation funding to make participation easier, increase scientific and economic impact and provide better value for money. The changes, to be introduced in the next EU budget after 2013, would bring together the current Framework Programme for research (FP7), the Competitiveness and Innovation Programme (CIP), and the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT).The Commission is seeking the views (via online questionnaire, written responses, interactive blog, events) of all interested individuals and organisations on these proposed changes and on the specific questions set out in the Green Paper.
