Welcome to the first Future Networks Newsflash of 2012!

We send you our warmest wishes for a happy and successful year! In 2012, the FP7 8th Call for proposals brings a fresh €160m for a new generation of R&D projects. 2012 will also see the preparation of the WP-2013 and will be decisive as to the role of Telecom networks and infrastructures in the upcoming HORIZON2020.

The 9th Concertation meeting registrations are nowopen until February 6th.

••• Call for action:public consultation on the Review of the EU state aid rules for research, development and innovation (R&D&I)

You are invited to submit your input (statistical and qualitative) for the review of the EU state aid rules for supporting R&D&I. The Commission is particularly interested in comments on national R&D&I policies at large and on national state aid support measures for R&D&I in particular. You can fill in the questionnaire by 24 February 2012.

••• Future  Internet Assembly: 10-11 May, Alborg, Denmark

 

The next Future Internet Assembly (FIA) will be held in Aalborg on 10-11 May under the Presidency of Denmark in the EU Council. This year, the "Smart Cities and Internet of Things" theme is to reveal FP7 projects striving to strengthen EU competitiveness in such areas.

••• Future Networks 9th Concertation meeting: 13-14 February 2012, Brussels

Registrations for the 9th Concertation meeting in Brussels are now open. Once registered, you can upload your presentations on the respective workshop pages and start networking using the website interactive features.


••• New EU Research CIP ICT Funding for satellite systems: Call 6 for Proposals

Apply for EU funding in satellite systems starting 1 February until 15 May 2012.

Don't miss your Info day! You can already register and download the draft agenda.

13 February 2012 - ICT PSP CIP Call 6, Objective 5.3: Contribution of satellite systems to 100% EU broadband coverage - Future Networks Thematic Workshop/Information Day

Register online now! Proposers are invited to submit ideas for presentation at the event.



••• HORIZON2020: In order to ensure a boost in growth and jobs, the European Commission proposed a total of 80 billion Euros for research and innovation covering a six-year period (2014-2020). HORIZON2020, a key pillar of Innovation Union, brings together EU research and innovation under one programme. Find out more about the funding programme here.



••• Stay tuned for FUNEMS 2012: 4-6 July, Berlin

The programme for the Summit will soon be available on the event website.
The Call for Exhibitors will open on 31 January, only to close on February 29th.
Participants will be informed about their papers' provisional acceptance on January 31st.
