••• Future Networks EU research funding opportunities - Application Deadline 17 January 2012

Future Networks EU research funding opportunities are currently available through the FP7-ICT-2011-8 call for proposals. The deadline for applications is 17 January 2012 at 17h00 (Brussels local time)

••• Future Internet Week and Future Internet Assembly: 24-28 October, Poznan

The next Future Internet Assembly (FIA) will take place in Poznan on 25-26 October as part of the Future Internet Week.

Future Networks projects are organising the Future Internet Cluster Workshop on Networking and Sensing Networks for a Smarter Environment .

During FIA, SESERV project will organise the How Disruptive Technologies Influence the FI Business EcosystemWorkshop.

••• STRONGEST to organise the Green Telecommunications Workshop: 18 October, Pisa

The workshop will cover energy efficiency in the core and fixed access networks, as well as green mobile networks. Real-time streaming is available on the project website.

••• FUNEMS 2012 Call for Papers - Deadline: 9 December 2011

The scientific programme for Future Network & MobileSummit 2012 is based on an open Call for Papers. A list of themes can help you narrow down your topic. The paper deadline is 9 December.

••• FUNEMS 2012 Call for Workshop proposals
Proposals for Thematic Workshops are also welcome. Similar to papers, workshop topics should be thematically focused. The same deadlines apply.

••• Future networks research beyond 2013: Multi-stakeholder Consultation - Call for Contributions - Deadline 15 December 2011

The HORIZON2020 debate is a key milestone in defining priorities for future EU research. The Future Networks Unit launched a dialogue with the research community via a multi-stakeholder consultation process, supporting the definition of:
• the last work programme of FP7 (WP 2013), and
• the challenges to be addressed in the future HORIZON2020 research programme for the communication networks area.

A first Consultation workshop addressed the following key issues:
• the main trends in research and innovation in the communication networks area,
• the main scientific and technical evolutions starting today up to 2020, as well as beyond,
• specific barriers or challenges that have to be overcome or taken up,
• the way such challenges should be reflected in relation to the research topics to be addressed in the years to come (2013-2020).

Time is ripe to extend the discussion by opening it to a wider audience. In order to do so, all interested stakeholders are invited to have their say and e-mail their contributions in answer to the current draft report by 15 December 2011. Following this, the European Commission could envisage a second workshop with interested contributors in the beginning of 2012.
