Once again, our projects come together at the Future Networks 8th FP7 Concertation Meeting in Brussels, 6-7 October. The draft programme is now available, while registrations are open until September 29. 

European research on future networks celebrated 20 years at theFUNEMS 2011 - Future Networks and Mobile Summit in Warsaw. Interviews with key industry representatives are now available online.

Do remember to save the dates for the FUNEMS2012 in Berlin, 4-6 July, as preparations have already started.

Our latest success stories are now online and you can also find out about our award-winning projects in this month's newsletter.


Last but not least, don't forget that you can apply for EU Future Networks research funding.  The ICT FP7 Call 8 is open for proposals until 17 January 2012.

••• Future Internet Week and Future Internet Assembly: 24-28 October, Poznan
The next Future Internet Assembly (FIA) will take place in Poznan on 25-26 October as part of the Future Internet Week.

The Future Networks projects are organising a workshop on Networking and Sensing Networks for a Smarter Environment. You can get involved and submit a 1-page abstract before 15 September .

Apply also for the third Future Internet Award Competition by 16 September!

The EUREKA Cluster Program in ICT -  Telecommunications is closing its 2011 Autumn Call on 10 October. You can browse through the Purple Book for additional info on research areas.

••• Future Networks 8th FP7 Concertation Meeting - Registration Deadline 29 September 2011

TheFuture Networks 8th FP7 Concertation Meeting will get the Future Networks projects and clusters (Future Internet, Radio Access and Spectrum, Converged and Optical Networks) together to exchange their latest research findings, ideas for future activities and team up on early identified future pre-standardisation opportunities.

 

The event will be held in Brussels, on 6-7 October. Download the draft agenda and finalise your registration by 29 September. The website's interactive features also allows for pre-event networking, comments on workshops and presentation submissions.

 

•••  Future Networks EU research funding opportunities - Application Deadline 17 January 2012
Future Networks EU research funding opportunities are currently available through the FP7-ICT-2011-8 call for proposals. The target is developing energy-efficient future network infrastructures that will support the convergence and interoperability of heterogeneous mobile, wired and wireless broadband network technologies as enablers of the Future Internet.

 

Check the latest updates for proposers on our Programme page. The presentations made at the Proposers' Days organised in Budapest and Warsaw are also available for download. The deadline for applications is 17 January 2012 at 17h00 (Brussels local time). A Pre-Proposal checking service is available.

 

••• FUNEMS - Future Network and Mobile Summit - FUNEMS2011 outcomes & FUNEMS2012 planning

Take the pulse of FUNEMS2011, the Future Network and Mobile Summit and watch the Net!Works video of this year's edition! Net!Works interviewed the European Commission and key industry representatives such as Thierry von Landegem from Alcatel-Lucent Bell Labs, Olle Victorsson from Ericsson, Lauri Oksanen from Nokia Siemens Networks, Peter Meissner from NGNM, and Matthew Finnie from Interoute about the Future of Networking Research.

Participants can download the conference presentations.

FUNEMS2012 will take place between 4-6 July 2012 in Berlin. SAVE the DATE in your calendars! Start writing your papers now, as the deadline for online submissions is expected in December 2011. Stay tuned for fresh information about the upcoming deadlines on FUNEMS website. You will also be able to exchange and discuss your ideas at the next Concertation Meeting in October.
