We would like to thank those of you who attended the Future Networks 6th FP7 Concertation Meeting, organised in Brussels on 18-20 October 2010. The presentations are now available on the event website.
We now invite you to save the date for our next project concertation event, the Future Networks 7th FP7 Concertation meeting, which will take place in Brussels on 10-11 February 2011. The Future Networks projects are invited to send us"hot topic" proposals for the Future Internet (FI), Radio Access and Spectrum (RAS) and Converged and Optical Networks (CaON) cluster meetings by the end of December. We would also like to invite you to prepare and submit a paper for consideration for the Future Network & MobileSummit 2011Scientific Programme by 10 December 2011.
We draw your attention to the recently launched EU policy flagship of the Europe2020strategy for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth: the Innovation Union, complementing the Digital Agenda for Europeflagship. We strongly encourage you to read them, in order to understand the wider EU current policy context of your project research.
In addition, we also take the opportunity to highlight a paper recently released by the European Technolgy Platform (ETP)eMobility as a contribution to building the bridges between the policy objectives of the grand societal challenges. As announced in the last Concertation Plenary Meeting, eMobility is being renamed "Net!Works", to reflect the convergence between the mobile, wireless, fixed broadband communities.

| Future Network & Mobile Summit 2011 - Call for Papers – Deadline 10 December 2010 |
|
The annual highlight of the Future Networks Concertation is theFuture Network & MobileSummit 2011 which will be organised in Warsaw, on 15-17 June, and will address all the challenges of building the Future Internet, which will be based on mobile, wireless and fixed broadband communications infrastructures. It showcases European research in the field, in particular from the EU Future Networks projects, and positions it within the multiplicity of related initiatives supported in other regions of the world. The scientific programme is based on an open Call for Papers, with Research, Technical, Visionary or Techno-Economic Scenarios in focus. Papers from the Future Networks projects and the wider research community are especially welcome. The deadline for the online submission is 10 December.

| Future Internet Conference Week - 13-17 December 2010, Ghent, Belgium |

The Future Internet Conference Week, a series of events concerning different aspects of the Future Internet is expected to attract around 2500 participants from all over Europe, including keynote speakers such as Peter Hirshberg (Silicon Valley executive, entrepreneur and marketing specialist), Neelie Kroes (VP for the EC and European Commissioner for Digital Agenda) and Ben Verwaayen (CEO Alcatel-Lucent). The FIA Ghent is organised by communities of hundreds of European researchers of the 100+ projects in all areas of the Future Internet, reaching out to different but related audiences that share common goals. The Future Internet Assembly Ghent will be held on 16-17 December.

| ISI General Assembly & SatCom Day - 30 November 2010 & 1 December 2010 Brussels, Belgium |
| The Integral Satcom Initiative (ISI) is the European Technology Platform (ETP) on Satellite Communications. During the ISI General Assembly, representatives from industry and academia of the Satellite Communications (SatCom) sector will discuss selected activities of the ISI Working Groups and the Steering Council on the SatCom industry sector, including the preparation of future collaborative research. The event provides networking opportunities for the preparation of new research consortia for upcoming FP7 ICT, Space and Security calls. The SatCom Day is gathering high profile key note speakers and panellists on the following topics: Why next generation SatCom should be considered in the digital agenda EC objective? - How can SatComs contribute to the European space policy and in particular security? - The ESA experience in the funding of Satellite systems in an institutional context. |
| Future Internet Award – Call for Applications – Deadline 15 November |

The Future Internet Awardis an opportunity for European national and regional Future Internet initiatives to promote their work. Initiatives can take the form of innovative products and services that will shape the Future Internet. It is supported and organised by the EU-funded ceFIMS project, the Coordination Action for the European Future Internet Forum of Member States. The Award will be given every six months. The closing date for receipt of completed application forms for the first Award is 15th November. The inaugural winners will be announced in December, at the Future Internet Forum (FIF) meeting in Ghent.
