Collaboration with Mediterranean Partner Countries
In concert with the European Neighbourhood Policy covering the Mediterranean Partner Countries, Call 6 of the IST Programme funded project MED-IST with the two-fold objective to develop ICT R&D Agendas* for the countries in the region in alignment with the challenges of the FP7 ICT Programme (Final Strategic Research Agenda for the MPC 346KB) and a set of policy recommendations* on how EU-MPC as well as MPC intraregional cooperation could be further enhanced (Policy Paper 284KB).
Both Research Agendas and Policy Recommendtions (MED IST Report749KB) were presented at the Closing Conference of the project in Cairo (Egypt) on 18-19 May 2009.
MED-IST, together with the other IST project targeting the MPC region, the so-called MAP-IT, developed also a database of ICT reseearch actors from the region.
In the context of FP7, the work of MED-IST is continued by the ICT project JOIN-MED, which aims at establishing a sustainable collaboration network or platform between the research communities of the EU and the Mediterranean Partner Countries around the priorities identified by MED-IST and udated by JOIN-MED.
