Objective 4.1: SME Initiative on Digital Content and Languages - Call SME-DCL
The European Commission wishes to promote SMEs in their international activities. As a recent study shows, increased internationalisation reinforces growth and enhances competitiveness of SMEs (more information can be found on the DG Enterprise SME web page). Note that from the total amount of funding which was available in recent HLT Calls, 40% has been earmarked for SMEs.
The Call SME-DCL is part of a special "business track". SMEs often have innovative ideas but cannot put them into practice as they lack access to data resources and specialised tools that are too expensive to obtain and maintain. The EC recognises that SMEs require special support but would like to see evidence that the proposed idea has a definite potential and will result in something that is both useful and viable. Therefore experimentation with innovative technologies, solutions and processes at the first-use stage will be encouraged to give the "proof of the pudding" results.
This Call sees a collaboration between our Unit and Unit E2 - Technologies for Information Management. Visit E2's Call page for further information.
In connection with the SME-DCL Call (see details in table below), we organised an Information & Networking Day. This event was held on 21 January 2011 in the Jean Monnet Conference Centre in Luxembourg.
