bloc-ict.jpgSuccessful Collaboration between projects to share results and re-use software. At the ICT 2010 event in Brussels, the TA2 project was demonstrating the orchestrated communications system, which attracted the attention of a researcher who had worked on HD Viper. TA2 is an FP7 project seeking to facilitate communication and engagement between groups of people that are separated in time and space. For TA2, HD video from multiple cameras at each location, intelligently captured and presented, can play a significant role. As a baseline the project needed access to an HD video conferencing capability, with which its software could intimately integrate. Relevant software components developed by HD Viper were identified and successfully integrated with the TA2 software. This operation saved the TA2 project an estimated 3 man months of coding time! The code is now in use in TA2's experimental platforms and is a necessary component enabling the project to better understand how to improve communication and engagement between groups of people.
