Promotional events on Key Action 1 and Materials

The first Key Action, 'Innovative products, processes and organisation', and the Generic Activities on Materials section (KA1 and MAT) of the EU's Competitive and Sustainable Growth programme, part of the Fifth Framework Programme (FP5), are to be the subject of an awareness campaign prior to the third call for proposals under the Growth programme.

The first calls for proposals under the Growth programme in the areas of Key Action 1 and MAT have attracted considerable interest throughout the European Union. Between the run-up to the launch of the call for proposals, including the pre-proposal check exercise, and the end of the evaluation procedure, numerous questions were put forward by prospective proposers. These enquiries have given evidence of the need to clarify the call research priorities and relevant issues relating to the preparation of project proposals.

Therefore, the Commission is promoting awareness events in various Member and Associated States, focusing on Key Action 1 and on Generic Activities in Materials in view of the next call for proposals which will be published early in June 2000, that will cover (among other topics) the Targeted Research Action "Products: Evolutionary Value Added and resource-saving Products-Services, including miniaturised systems". This campaign is being organised in close collaboration with the Growth National Contact Points (Growth NCPs).

The infodays will focus primarily on the specifics of KA1 and MAT. The target audience will be potential proposers, in particular industrial research representatives, including SMEs.
