What is the e-mail notification facility?
The CORDIS e-mail notification facility allows registered users to receive notification by e-mail of any new information published that corresponds to the profile the user has created. The profile can be updated or deleted by the user at any time. To create the profile, the user simply selects areas of interest by ticking/selecting from a menu of the most popular fields of interest. It is also possible to enhance the profile by adding on saved search profiles from the advanced and/or professional search facilities.

How to use the e-mail notification facility
The e-mail notification facility is a free service available to registered users of CORDIS. To register with CORDIS all you have to do is complete the details on the registration form.
There are no fees for registering with CORDIS.
Already Registered?
- First of all, if you are registered user of CORDIS, make sure that you have your username and/or password available.
- Users that have forgotten their log-in details should use the password reset function.
Not Already Registered?
- If you are not a registered user of CORDIS, please register now.
- You may now proceed to use the e-mail notification facility.
How to select from the popular categories menu
- Go to the e-mail notification interface (you will need to provide your user-name and password)
- Tick each box where you would like to receive e-mail notification of new information published. In some cases you may also specify one or more particular fields of interest from a sub-menu. The more boxes you tick the more information you will receive - if necessary, you can adjust the amount of information by modifying your profile.
- When you have completed your selection, click on 'Save'; your profile is now encoded in our system, and e-mail notifications will be sent whenever new information is published that meets one of your choices. The facility runs overnight between working days; any new information will appear in your in-box the following morning.
How to update or delete e-mail notification profiles
- E-mail notification profiles can be modified or deleted at anytime you choose: you must log-in to do this.
- Once you are logged in, go to the e-mail notification profile table and click on the 'Manage your items' button
- To extend the validity of your profiles, click on the 'Extend validity' button.
How to save a search
- Go to the Advanced or the Professional search screen of the database of your choice.
- You may now enter your search criteria. Click on the 'Save a Search' button to access the Login screen. (If you were not already logged-in, you will need to do so now)
- Please follow the instructions on screen. You will be prompted to enter a brief description. Note: The description field accepts a maximum of 80 characters - spaces and special characters (including 8-bit characters) may be used.
- Click on the 'Save a Search' button.
- The system will display in a table the search number (sequential number of your searches), the database(s) which the search applies to, the description of the search and the date it was last updated.
How to retrieve a search
- Username:
Make sure that you have your username and/or password available. If you have forgotten your password please contact the CORDIS Help Desk. - Access the e-mail notification facility log-in screen.
- Enter your Username and password and click on the 'Log-in' button.
- To activate a search, all you need to do is click on the appropriate button (in order to select the search) and then on the 'view or modify' button. You will be shown your search screen with the search criteria you have previously entered (saved), and you may then click on the 'search' button.
How to update or delete an existing search
- Username:
Make sure that you have your username and/or password available. If you have forgotten your password please contact the CORDIS Help Desk. - Access the e-mail notification facility log-in screen.
- Enter your Username and password and click on the 'Log-in' button.
- To modify a search, all you need to do is click on the appropriate button (in order to select the search) and then on the 'view or modify' button. You will be shown your search screen with the search criteria you have previously entered (saved), and you may then change the search profile as you wish.
- Remember to save your modified search!
