We are contributing to RDF2Go: RDF2Go is an abstraction over triple (and quad) stores. It allows developers to program against rdf2go interfaces and choose or change the implementation later easily. In PLAY we extended the abstraction layer to work with quadruples on top of Jena which was previously not implemented in RDF2Go. We contribute code to the Jena 2.9 adapter which now supports the ModelSet, meaning a quad store.

We are organising the workshop I-CriMa on I-ESA 2012, the conference on Interoperability for Enterprise Systems and Applications on March 22nd-23rd 2012 in Valencia (Spain). • Interoperability for crisis management (I-CriMa) Workshop Scope: The overall topic concerns interoperability issues in crisis management context. Crisis management generally implies a very close collaboration between strongly heterogeneous organizations (medical unit, army, firemen, NGO, police, etc.). Furthermore, because of the criticality of that kind of context, both effectiveness and agility of collaboration are crucial. Therefore, this very specific context can be considered as one of the most demanding, considering interoperability points of views, solutions and technical approaches.

The newest deliverables are now in our publication section: Among them are Requirements and early designs for our components “Event Cloud”, “Distributed Complex Event Processing” and “Value Added Services” along with use case development and our second iteration Exploitation Plan for which we received specific praise in the review. From the Exploitation Plan: Which are PLAY’s strengths and weaknesses? How can money be made out of the PLAY platform? To answer these questions, nine potential competitors were studied: Pachube, ThingSpeak, Nimbits, IBM Smarter Planet program, HP CeNSE, ioBridge, Datasift, Touchatag and Digital Graffiti.

We gave an invited talk about the PLAY semantic event format and query language at the Winter School on Knowledge Technologies for Complex Business Environments in Ljubljana on December 2, 2011 9 o’clock at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (FME). Abstract: Real-time has become one of the crucial characteristics of modern applications and is completely changing the game in the data processing. Due to its capability to support continual monitoring, real-time data processing has become a very important mechanism in many application areas: traffic management, logistics, eHealth, smart grids, to name but a few. In this talk we present technologies to deal with real-time data on-the-fly, challenges and possible solutions to deal with these challenges such as using Web-friendly standards to create open and extensible systems for real-time data. A significant milestone towards a Dependable Service Economy has been reached with the final publication of results of the recently concluded SLA@SOI research project. Launched in June 2008, this European Commission funded project has been researching, developing and proving tools and techniques that can embed SLA-aware infrastructures into the service economy.
In recent days a suite of 11 new videos has been uploaded to the SLA@SOI YouTube channel. They cover key topics spanning the SLA@SOI Studio, SLA@SOI Monitoring, the Open Reference Demonstrator and the Enterprise IT Use-Case. If you haven't seen them yet, check them out...
