How do I find out more about a project mentioned in an article?
|
|
Due to privacy limitations, only links to the project website are provided for projects mentioned in feature articles, so you can follow up with them via their publicly available information. There is no need to go via the ICT Results helpdesk unless you have problems getting through to the project contact.

Are the intellectual property rights (IPR) for the results reported in your articles available for third parties?
|
|
All ICT projects involve consortia and the partners are required to agree conditions for sharing and using IPR from any results arising from the project. Where the IPR is available for third-party commercialisation ICT Results will identify the relevant partners who can provide more detailed information.

Can ICT Results content be republished on other sites?
|
|
Yes. We encourage other organisations to re-publish ICT Results content, provided we are acknowledged as the source. Further details are available via the Press Desk page.
Ideally, we would like to be told when you are republishing our content to help us in our analysis of the impact of our services and the type of content we offer. This, however, is not mandatory. But if you do let us know we could link to your site and help increase, in turn, your web traffic.
Our syndicated newsfeed allows you to automatically add ICT Results directly to your website.

How do I use the search operators?
|
|
You can use even more powerful search engines by using the operators.
Using search operators: Using more than one word will show all the elements where the different words are found, and will depend on the operator used.
- Using quotes- example: "open source". The system will match the exact expression and nothing else.
- Using AND- example: 'mobile AND technology'. The system will only show the elements containing both the terms mobile AND technology
- Using OR- example: 'mobile OR software'. The system will show the elements containing both the terms mobile and software, or only containing software or only containing mobile.
- Using NEAR- example: 'mobile NEAR software'. The system will show all the elements containing both the term mobile and software and close to each other.
- Using NOT- example: 'mobile NOT software'. The system will only show the elements containing the word mobile, and not the ones containing the word software.
Multiple search operators in search string: Only the combination of AND NOT is allowed. All other combinations of search operators will lead to an error.
For example, "teleworking AND NOT e-mail" will find all occurrences containing "teleworking" but not containing "e-mail". 'Mobile and or software' and 'Mobile not near software' will end up as 'error message'.
But, using AND and NEAR in the same phrase is possible, as long as they are not next to one another.
For example, 'Learning AND technology NEAR vision', will find all the elements containing both learning and technology, and which are close to the word vision in the text.
Using a search operator at the beginning or end of a sentence: When using a search operator at the beginning or the end of a sentence, the operator will be removed.
For example, 'Mobile AND', 'OR mobile', 'NOT mobile'. The system will only find the elements containing the word mobile.

What is RSS?
|
|
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication or Rich Site Summary. It is an XML specification for content syndication used to describe how to display content (also known as a feed) in software called news aggregators or for adding feeds directly on your site.
Content providers, such as ICT Results, write the feed according to the specification and users can subscribe to the feed using the news aggregation software. Some of the more common aggregators include:
Each one works a little differently, but they all enable users to subscribe to a content source, organise them and view the feeds (subscriptions). You just see the hyperlinked article title and summary allowing you to quickly scan the information. Clicking on the title of interest takes you to the full article on the source website.
Once you subscribe you can also choose the frequency of receipt of updates.
You can subscribe to individual websites, such as ICT Results, or build a feed on a particular term such as your company name or industry. Any time the term appears on a website or blog, you will then be informed via your aggregator software, rather than your e-mail inbox. Note, some aggregator will publish your selection to your inbox, if you still prefer e-mails. Unlike e-mail newsletters RSS puts the user in control.
The RSS model only subscribes to the feeds of choice. To unsubscribe simply remove the feed from the aggregator.
Webmasters can add ICT Results their website. For this we have made available a JavaScript feed. If you're not interested in using JavaScript, there are many other tools out there to add RSS feeds to your site. We suggest you consult the specialICT press for more detailed information.
