Access to Research Infrastructures - Infrastructure Policy

Access to Research Infrastructures (ARI)

Infrastructure Policy

In 1989, under the Second "Framework Programme for Community R&D" the European Commission introduced its first scheme aimed at enhancing the impact of Europe’s best research facilities by opening up access to EU researchers. Since this first scheme, the Commission has progressively developed its policies for the support of research infrastructures. Today, infrastructures are a key element of the Fifth Framework Programme, and their importance for the EU scientific community is reflected by their inclusion in the Communication 'Towards a European Research Area'.
