About the ACTS InfospaceThis is the archive of the ACTS Infospace, a service provided by the InfoWin and Infobridge projects to participants in the EU ACTS programme and to people interested in research and development of advanced communications technologies and services. Infowin started off in 1996, continuing a similar service in the former RACE programme. Originally, this was a service for ACTS national hosts, but it soon developed into a more general information service on ACTS topics, offering a wide range of products and services. InfoWin ended in 1998, and the services were continued by Infobridge. It was intended to continue with a similar service under the IST programme, but for various reasons this could not be realized. The Infospace for the ACTS Programme went on-line in 1996 and was maintained by InfoWin and later InfoBridge until summer 2000 when the last final reports came in and ACTS had already officially ended. The version in front of you not only presents the results of many individual projects that partook in ACTS, but you may also find it interesting to browse through the aims with which each project set out at the beginning and see how these were realized. So the current Infospace is a history as well but certainly not history yet. The results still have an important impact on communication technologies all over the world. Archived Addresses and LinksAs the ACTS programme has ended many addresses and links that were originally included might be out of date or have already been deleted. So if you have any questions please contact the European Commission. Many email addresses appearing on our archived pages will become invalid in the future, or may even be invalid already. ContentsThe Infospace is divided into two parts that interact frequently: one part deals with ACTS in general and all its projects, and the other part is especially designed by Infowin ensuring the cirulation of information through various products and services. If you want to get an overview of the ACTS programme, the best way to start is to have a look at the Introduction to ACTS and from there go on to the ACTS Programme which includes the official documentation and explains the concept of concertation. Additionally, the Infowin project that was responsible for maintaining the data and presenting the final CD-ROM published many brochures and books of which most can be viewed here. These products include the quarterly Infowin Bulletins, Thematic Issues, the Handbook on Communication Services, ACTS newsclips and various ACTS97 and 98 publications. Finally, as one of the most important tasks was to make sure that the project managers knew what other projects achieved, the projects' advancements were regularily documented in the Multilingual Headline News. We hope this final version of the ACTS Infospace is of much use for you.
