| Domains allow for concertation between projects working within a defined technical area and provide a natural forum for reviews of progress by peers and co-operation between projects working on similar problems. |
The Domains within the ACTS programme are: The general aims of concertation within domains are:
- to provide a forum for projects working on similar technical problems to share ideas and experiences, possibly including the selective use of the work of one project directly in another, thus enhancing the value to the Programme as a whole. This constitutes a primary focus on internal objectives
- to provide opportunities for developing a consensus view among peer projects, where such a consensus is required, for example for an input to Guidelines, industry agreements, international expert groups or standardisation
- to provide each individual project with the opportunity of undergoing constructive review and monitoring by peers having an understanding of the issues being addressed
- to provide a focus for occasional topical workshops serving the ACTS community.
