APCHDL is an international conference that brings together the research and engineering community members working in the area of Hardware Description Languages. This conference addresses all aspects of the discipline, including modeling, synthesis and simulation. The first three conferences were held at Brisbane, Australia (December 1993), Toyohashi, Japan (October 1994) and Bangalore, India (January 1996), respectively.
APCHDL'97 is scheduled to be held in Hsin-Chu, Taiwan, between August 18-20, 1997, and will be held in conjunction with the 8th Taiwan VLSI/CAD Symposium (August 21-23, 1997).
Scope:
Original papers for regular and short presentations are invited from all areas related to HDL theory and application, including modeling, synthesis and simulation. The topics to be covered include, but are not limited to: Design Methodology, HW/SW Codesign, High-Level Synthesis, Logic Synthesis, Simulation, Modeling, Analog Simulation and Synthesis, Formal Verification, Testing and HDLs, CAD Frameworks and Libraries, HDL Standards, Applications, and Design Experience.
Submissions:
Five copies of an extended abstract summarizing the contribution should be sent by the deadline to the APCHDL secretary at the address below. E-mail submissions are also accepted by the deadline, but in PostScript or ASCII text only. The extended abstract should be no longer than 1500 words, and should clearly state the significance of the contribution. Authors should give their names, affiliations, and the postal address, telephone, FAX and E-mail information for the corresponding author on the first page of the abstract. Submissions may be accepted as regular papers (limited to 8 pages including figures, tables and references) or as short papers (limited to 4 pages).

Journal Publication:
The Journal of Information Science and Engineering of Academia Sinica will publish a special issue on HDL after the conference is held. Extended version of those papers accepted by APCHDL97 will be solicited for possible publication in the special issue.
About Taiwan and Hsin-Chu:
Taiwan is an island with 36,000 square kilometers of land, of which about 70% is covered by spectacular mountains. The average temperature in Hsin-Chu area in August is around 30C. Hsin-Chu is located about 64 kilometers (40 miles) south of Taipei (a 1-hour drive), and about 48 Kilometers (30 miles) south of the CKS International Airport (a 45-minute drive). The city's population is about 400,000. It is the home of National Tsing Hua University, National Chiao Tung University, the Industrial Technology Research Institute, and the Science Park, which makes it the center of the rapidly growing electronics and information industry in Taiwan.
