Abstract:
This study concerns to the need for professional and vocational education and training for investment analysts of venture capital firms and investment banks and has been commissioned by Enterprise DG of the European Commission under the auspices of the Innovation /SMEs programme of the Fifth Research Framework Programme. It has been prepared by IPStrategies, Belgium.

The main objective of the study is to aid both the venture capital and the investment banking sector to define the real needs in terms of skills, and to analyse the needs for vocational training, to investigate the role of institutions providing such training, and to investigate the role played by trade associations in the training of members. This in order to raise standards and enhance the reputation of the profession, and the impact of new capital markets for high growth companies such as EASDAQ on the number of financial analysts available in Europe.

The main target group of the study is venture capital firms and investment bank specialised in small caps and technology stocks.
