Abstract:
In the early nineties, practitioners in the investors industry pointed out screening and analysis of opportunities as their main competitive advantage. Today, they see themselves as hands on investors capable of delivering value added. But do they really add value? Twelve papers are presented in three different tracks, each of them illuminating a different perspective on the role and relevance of private equity for starting and growing new ventures. The financial Community perspective . The first chapter of the book tries to understand which investment managers are more open to make seed capital investments. The Entrepreneurs perspective. Part two intends to understand the motivations of an entrepreneur to look for private equity. TThe Role of Government in Private Equity. The third part opens with a discussion on the commercialization of university research in general and the creation of spin-off companies in particular.
