2006 European conference looking for a home

Planning for the Europe INNOVA Conference 2006, the Directorate-General for Enterprise and Industry is seeking a partner to help with organising the two-day event for innovation professionals, to be held sometime between October and December next year.

The Europe INNOVA Conference 2006 builds upon Gate2Growth and further develops the approach of networking innovation players, by combining analytical expertise with grassroots experience. It is expected to bring together more than 230 contractors from 23 Member States.

Expressions of interest for the hosting of this conference are expected from cities or regions where one or more Europe INNOVA contractors are based. Spontaneous applications from other cities and regions will also be considered.

Such expressions of interests from local and regional authorities interested in hosting the Europe INNOVA Conference 2006 should be sent to the Commission services of DG Enterprise and Industry by November 30th 2005, providing information about the:

  • Attractiveness of the host city (hotels, transport, availability of high-level local representatives (business and/or public authorities), innovation poles for visits)
  • Proposed conference venue and facilities (appropriateness, size, availability of rooms for parallel meetings/breakout sessions, etc)
  • Mobilisation of local constituency and press
  • Social and parallel programmes (guided tours, receptions, dinners, etc.)

The host city or region will be involved in drafting the conference programme, but a full draft programme is not expected at this stage. The conference will be held entirely in English; therefore interpretation services should not be necessary.

Expressions of interest, no longer than 20 pages, should be sent by e-mail to Elke Van Tendeloo ( (email removed) ) before the mentioned deadline. For more information please do not hesitate to contact the Commission services by e-mail.

The Commission services will assemble an internal evaluation committee to consider all proposals received and will communicate the name of the selected host city or regions by December 22nd 2005. The first conference committee meeting, including the Commission services, relevant contractors and representatives from the host city or region, will take place in January 2006.
