ARTEMIS Annual Conference, Cité de la Science, Paris, 30 June - 1 July 2005

The second Artemis annual conference was highly successful and well attended with around 200 delegates. The opening address was delivered by the host Dominque Vernay (CTO Thales) and the keynote speech was delivered by Peter Zangl who presented the Commission's i2010 intiative. Other speeches were by Airbus, the High Tech SME Federation, ARM and Nokia. The atmoshpere was lively and enthusiatic with real a sense that the platform is in motio=n now. Since ARTEMIS was launched in Rome a year ago, its Steering Board has grown from 20 to 29 members and the participation in its activities has doubled. At the management level, there was a Steering Group meeting and a Mirror Group meeting of public authorities where there was a lot of discussion on possible future legal structures and funding models.

The ARTEMIS Strategic Research Agenda ( PDF , 2.099KB) was unveiled in Paris for the first time and it was well received by the research community.

EMTECH High Tech SME Workshop, Paris, 29th June 2005

Artemis shows the way for a new approach involving SMEs in Technology Platforms. The Artemis conference was preceeded with the EMTECH workshop which brought together 120 SME representatives from 16 countries and 30 large company representatives such as ABB, ARM, Robert Bosch, British Telecom, Comau, Continental Teves, Daimler Chrysler, Eurocopter, Finmeccanica, Infineon, Nokia, Renault, Siemens, ST Microelectronics & Thales. The purpose of the event was to promote networking between SMEs and large companies across Europe. The event was highly successful according to the evaluation forms filled by participants.

ARTEMIS Session at the IST 2004 Event, The Hague ( NL ), 17 November 2004

IST 2004 is DG Information Society’s annual Event (Conference and Exhibition) which was held 15-17 Nov 2004 in The Hague. The ARTEMIS Platform session focused on future scenarios for embedded computing systems, impact of embedded systems in the automotive industry and security aspects.

ARTEMIS Workshop, Rome, 28-29 June 2004

The workshop was held in parallel with the high level Steering Board meeting where the Platform was presented to the wider scientific community. The keynote speech was delivered by Commissioner Liikanen who said that a Technology Platform on Embedded Systems is a key instrument to address future challenges and opportunities and to achieve sustainable competitiveness and European world leadership.
