Information Day on “Audio-Visual Search Technologies”
December 19th , 2005
Centre Charlemagne - 1049 Bruxelles
Search technologies have become a strategic aspect of ICT access, personalization and information use. To launch a new strategic R&D objective on audio-visual search technologies, the Commission services of DG Information Society invite you to attend an Information Day in Brussels, Charlemagne building, on Dec 19th from 9:30 till 16:30. ( See enclosed agenda )
This meeting follows from the successful conclusions of the September 15th consultation on " Future challenges of audio-visual search engines ".
The Commission's initiative seeks to promote collaboration and EU-wide innovation in this cross-disciplinary area. A new Call will support provision of advanced solutions for organizing, searching and accesing large-scale distributed audio-visual content and digital objects. Participants can bring ideas on integrated projects or targeted research that would significantly advance today's search and find capabilities, support industrial initiatives and consolidate existing research results, and identify future orientations in this field. This includes sharing knowledge on the progress of relevant national initiatives for on-line access to digital content.
As you can see in the enclosed agenda there will be room for short presentations of potential R&D ideas you may wish to share with the audience. If you intend to give a presentation you are welcome to let us know and send, no later than Dec 12th , your intended presentation at the eMail: (email removed)
This information day is planned subject to the final approval of call 6.
As soon as approved, Call 6 will be published in the OJ.
