Broadband Cluster Group
- The cluster group cover areas that are related to fixed and wireless broadband networks technologies. Further information concerning broadband related issues and FP6 clusters can be found on the web site of BREAD (Broadband in Europe for All: a multi-Disciplinary approach) which is a co-ordination action aiming at developing a multi-disciplinary approach for the realisation of the 'broadband for all' concept within Europe.
Scope
- Broadband access scenarios, architectures, roadmaps, and social-economics
- Internet infrastructure such as fixed, cellular, broadcast, WLAN and satellite networks
- Convergence and integration of fixed and wireless networks
- Optical network technologies
Objectives
- Provide a forum to facilitate knowledge sharing and leverage of broadband networking technologies
Deliverables
- Produce Broadband Cluster group report to consolidate results of IST Broadband technologies and applications research activities
- Produce an annual Broadband (BB) Forum event together with BREAD. The scope of the event is to combine presentations and workshops by FP6-projects with presentations and views by government agencies, standardisation bodies and regional initiatives
- Recommendations to EU programmes on Broadband networks
