Spectrum and Resource Management (SRM)
Start date
March 2006
Scope
- Impact of Wireless Technologies on Usage, Planning and Management of the Radio Spectrum
- Opportunistic Spectrum Usage Strategies
- Resource Management Strategies for E2E QoS in all-IP heterogeneous Networks
- Reconfigurability Support for Resource and Spectrum Management
- Resource Management Strategies for E2E QoS in all-IP heterogeneous Networks
- Radio Resource Management Schemes for hybrid WMAN/WLAN Mesh Scenarios
- Radio Resource Management Strategies for 3G and beyond Cellular Systems
- Flexible Spectrum Management (FSM), Dynamic Spectrum Allocation (DSA), Cognitive Radio (CR) Sensor Networks scenarios, architectures, roadmaps, and social-economics
Objectives
One of the expected outcomes within the Strategic Objective "Mobile and Wireless Systems and Platforms" is "A consolidated European approach regarding the Spectrum requirements (terrestrial and satellites) in the evolution beyond 3G and a clear European understanding of the novel ways of optimising Spectrum usage when moving beyond 3G".
Clearly, Advanced Resource Management is needed both for current and future systems to make efficient use of existing Spectrum Resources and existing and future Infrastructures in an adaptive, cooperative and integrated Way. This topic is covered by this Cluster focusing on Spectrum issues, Radio Resource Management (RRM) and Software Defined Radio (SDR).
This cluster intends to provide a forum to facilitate knowledge sharing and to develop the vision on Spectrum and Resource Management for B3G Systems. The cluster expects to reinforce the complementarities of Projects and the synergies derived from their work, and create a critical mass of resources focused upon issues of strategic importance. The cluster should also be a good context to consolidate the results of the participating Projects and constitute an open discussion forum.
