International relations

Activities carried out at EU level are continued through various means and in various directions: research, standardisation, policy, etc. Information on the Member States section of this site also describes activities carried out at European level but currently outside the EU framework.

The Framework Programme for RTD is open not only to Member States and Acceding Countries but also to the other so-called Associated States. Partners from third countries can also participate as supplementary partners.

The e Accessibility/ e Inclusion topics are included in specific collaboration programmes, i.e. @LIS (Alliance for the Information Society) for the South America region.

Standardisation is tackled at EU level when appropriate, but also at world level when required, in particular for web accessibility with the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

International conferences and fairs are regularly attended with specific presentations by relevant Commission staff and/or funded project representatives or experts.

Bilateral discussions are also regularly carried out regarding policy directions and actions with other developed countries, i.e. the USA, Canada, Japan.
