Broadband Gap 2007
Brussels, Belgium
The Information Society offers enormous benefits to Europe's less developed regions and rural and isolated areas, yet commercial investment in broadband infrastructure for these areas is problematic. Launched by four European Commissioners, this Conference and Exhibition will investigate how the strategic use of ICT can support regional and local development, ease infrastructure and geographical handicaps and make these areas more attractive to business and individuals alike.

The event, organised by the European Commission with support of the Ministry of the Environment and the Technology Centre of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, will give information on the five research topics related to environmental sustainability and energy efficiency that will be called for in the second ICT call in 2007. This will provide a good occasion for proposers, including those from the New Member States, to meet and share their project ideas during the networking part of the event. Participation to the event is free but prior registration is required.

The ICT Policy Support Programme (or ICT PSP) is a component of the Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme (CIP). The ICT PSP aims to stimulate innovation and competitiveness through the wider uptake and best use of ICT by citizens, governments and businesses. The ICT PSP will run from 2007 to 2013 with an overall budget of 730 M€. The Work Programme of the ICT Policy Support Programme for 2007 is envisaged to be adopted in May and the first Call for Applications is expected to open on 23 May 2007 and close on 23 October. This Information Day will provide more details about the Call, the various themes and instruments as well as the conditions for application.

This information event covers the second call for proposals under the e-Infrastructures topic of the FP7 "Capacities" Specific Programme. It will focus on : e-Science Grid Infrastructures (INFRA-2007-1.2.3) ; Studies, conferences and coordination actions supporting policy development, including international cooperation (INFRA-2007-3.1.3). Further details will also be given on submission and evaluation. The participation to the event is free of charge but the number of places is limited. Registration is therefore highly encouraged.

eLearning Africa
Nairobi, Kenya
This event focuses on ICT for development, education and training in Africa. It will establish a network of decision makers from governments and administrations with universities, schools, governmental and private training providers, industry, and important partners in development cooperation. This year's edition focuses on "Building Infrastructures and Capacities to Reach out to the Whole of Africa", reflecting the significant efforts of African countries to set up their national and regional ICT infrastructures to create access to education, training and services for all. The conference will be accompanied by an exhibition.

This forum aims to provide participants with the latest Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) technologies and solutions, today’s legal status, experience and plans to implement solutions facilitating the dynamic and smooth development of e-business in Poland, Europe and in the World.
1 - 5 July 2007
This event is supported by the European Commission and is organised by the participants to the IST research projects in the field of "Mobile and Wireless". Its main objective is to present and disseminate to the largest possible audience the scientific results of these projects, aiming for a large participation from outside the EU research community. The programme consists of parallel paper and poster presentations, selected through a peer review process after a call for papers, complemented with a reduced number of plenary panel sessions addressing strategic issues of interest and a number of workshops, tutorials, project and cluster meetings.
3 - 5 October 2007
This event will offer a forum to discuss the current situation, trends and challenges in the field of Assistive Technology. A call for papers has been launched, inviting all parties active in this field to participate with their experiences, developments and results (deadline for submission : 28 February)
8 - 11 October 2007
This event will highlight the challenges and opportunities resulting from the interplay of web and network technologies, and the way this changes user expectations and experiences. Examples include social networking services based on IP-TV and IP Multimedia Systems that enable a totally new TV user experience; interactive group services where members of an online community can share digital content and chat in real time; and collaborative services for enterprises integrating voice, multimedia and data.
23 - 25 October 2007
Apply to participate in this event through the Call for Papers. This conference is co-organised by the European Commission, HIMSS, World Health Organization and other members of the Organising Committee. This conference will focus on the role and impact of Health IT on the health sector in Europe and other parts of the world, including the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
