What is a Thematic Network in the 5th Framework Programme
Thematic Networks include Networks of Excellence and Working Groups.
A Thematic Network could be launched in conjunction with a proactive initiative, through a separate proposal.
A thematic network would bring together the broad community active in the research domains addressed by a proactive initiative in order to:
- Ensure adequate links between the wider research community and proactive initiative projects, and the broad dissemination of their research results.
- Provide a framework of coordination for research and training activities at the European level.
- Elaborate and maintain a roadmap as described above.
- Stimulate industrial and commercial interest, and enhance the public visibility of the research.
Thematic Networks bring together industry, users, universities and research centres with a common RTD objective.
