- Grid Funding Policy
- -> Member States representatives and the Commission presented and discussed current and future funding for Grids in the context of ERA. The Speakers presented the motivation of existing programmes as well as future directions and provided their opinion about opening of national and regional research programmes enabling them to take on tasks collectively that individual programmes would not be able to tackle independently.

- Panel: Visions and Challenges
- -> Building on the contributions and discussions from the previous sessions the creation of an ERA for Grids and the path towards successful deployment of Grids was discussed. What are the challenges to build a truly European Research Area for Grids - and a competitive market place for Grid Services? How can Europe's industry be stimulated and strengthened to drive Grid Research? How well is current MS/EC funding for Grids balanced: short-term low-risk, long-term high-risk, exploitation. Are the current priorities appropriate? From an understanding how Grid research is organised in Member States, how can diversity be integrated?
- Moderator:
Bob Hertzberger, Michael Resch
