Cluster Workshop on Enterprise Interoperability Research
23 May 2007
Brussels, Belgium
As you may know, the last Enterprise Interoperability Cluster meeting focused on the topic of business models. The meeting, open to all interested stakeholders, was held on the 23rd May at the Commission premises in Brussels (agenda here - PDF, 27KB).
Please find hereby the minutes of the meeting.
In anticipation of further advances in the EI research field, we should ensure that the public results from the FP6 EI Cluster projects are widely disseminated and put to optimal use by stakeholders in the EI community. Therefore, the objectives of the Cluster meeting on business models were:
- To consolidate and disseminate the relevant available public results from the Cluster projects, notably from the ATHENA Integrated Project (IP) and the INTEROP Network of Excellence (NoE), which are substantial projects in terms of public financing and which are delivering their final results;
- Include and discuss additional non-projects contributions to this important reflection exercise (open process);
- To prepare the ground for developing a consensus view of the Cluster on the value and impact of EI from a business perspective, based on the analyses and studies undertaken by the Cluster projects particularly ATHENA and INTEROP, and augment these with the latest developments in the field such as Web 2.0 and Enterprise 2.0;
- To foster collaboration among the Cluster projects, in conjunction with interested stakeholders, to develop a credible and convincing value proposition for EI solutions above and beyond pure technical RTD and scientific excellence, taking into account particularly the requirements of SMEs and the evolving developments in research and in industry.
As foreseen in the draft Cluster work plan for 2007, we launched an informal study group on the topic of business models for EI, to produce a short Cluster publication by the end of the year. The four editors appointed are: Ms Man-Sze Li, Ms Servane Crave, Mr Roelof Van Den Bergh and Pr Antonio Grilo.
To maintain this process open you are still invited to send us (Cristina Martinez) your contributions or provide suggestions.
For those interested, please submit your contributions by email to the Project Officer in charge (Cristina Martinez) and Man-Sze Li (in copy) by 22nd of June at the very latest. We will be publishing your contributions under the ISG page.
