AGRO-FOOD ROADMAPS - a vision and workplan to implement future RTD trends for the transformation of agri-food industries into digital companies

The objective of AFORO is twofold. It is first oriented to integrate, refine and validate partners? knowledge to identify key research demands for the next five to ten years, and their feasibility with regard to the development and implementation of novel e-commerce, e-business and e-work technologies, concepts and models, into companies belonging to the agro-food industry and services. This first objective will be achieved by reinforcing and building consensus among a group of experiences actors in the RTD domain for Agro-Food applications. Secondly, AFORO will produce a sensitive course of action to implement such RTD activities within the next five years taking into consideration the potential EC competitive position, identifying all relevant actors and generating implementation models.

TEX-MAP (IST-2001-38206)

New Organisation & e-business solutions for conventional and non-conventional textile applications: A Roadmap - Enterprise Modelling, Knowledge Management, Advanced Multimedia, Mass Customisation, Interoperability

TEX-MAP aims at developing a Strategic Roadmap, preparing the ground for an «Integrated Project» in the 6th Framework Programme, which will transform the Textile-Clothing-Distribution (TCD) chain, together with all related sectors involved in the same model of communities, into dynamic, innovative, flexibly integrated and customer oriented businesses by year 2010. The project will address the following 4 «Action Lines»: Enterprise Modelling, Knowledge Management in the Virtually Extended Textile/Clothing Enterprise, Advanced Multimedia Solutions, Intelligent solutions for Customised products. The project will be supported by a large number of on-going R&D projects in the current EU Framework. TEX-MAP will develop a comprehensive state of the art, a Delphi study to identify research priorities, a technical feasibility study focusing on the selected R&D priorities and a comprehensive R&D Roadmap.

BPR LOGISTICS (IST-2001-38477)

Business, Policy And Research Implications Of Logistics In The E-Economy Environment

BPR Logistics project aims at creating and developing a co-ordination and collaboration environment for activities taking place in the area of Supply Chain Management and Logistics in the e-economy environment. More specifically, BPR Logistics will identify the areas of impact of e-economy on Logistical and Supply Chain Management activities in order to:

  • present in a systematic way the voids, gaps and potential problems;
  • provide a focal point for collaboration between the different programmes where stakeholders can meet and exchange views on their activities;
  • explore issues not yet covered by the national, international, and European funded projects, and investigate future research challenges and roadmaps;
  • draw recommendations for new projects or complementary activities that could foster potential policy, business or technological changes.

RURAL WINS (IST-2001-39107)

Roadmap for Broadband Solutions for rural areas

Development of a RTD roadmap which will ensure the economically and technically feasible deployment of communications solutions for rural areas and maritime regions which allow the universal deployment of the Information Society. This thematic network will bring in technology foresight and business model propositions to overcome the discriminatory gap found in rural areas access to the Information Society. The network will have a core group of partners covering the EU and NAS countries, the Local Development experience and the different technologies involved in visionary Rural Area ICTs. The wide constituency will be invited to participate in the meetings which will form the project backbone. Dissemination to public at large, in all the EU rural areas and to policy makers and opinion drivers is foreseen in the proposal.

MB-NET (IST-2001-39164)

A Network of Excellence in mBusiness Applications and Services

The objective of MB-NET is to systematically investigate the future of mBusiness by identifying research challenges, formulating policy recommendations, and providing strategic roadmaps on a 5-year horizon. A robust methodological approach will be pursued by an independent discursive forum consisting of industry and research leaders that collectively represent excellence in mBusiness across Europe. MB-NET will synthesise the joint expertise of its 26 founding members in order to assist the European Commission in identifying the most effective allocation of public RTD funding on mBusiness within the 6th Framework Programme for Research and Technology Development. Being a Thematic Network, MB-NET will not attempt to provide answers regarding the future of mBusiness applications and services, but will focus on identifying, through a rigorous and comprehensive methodological approach, the right questions that need to be addressed for future focused Research and Technology Development.
