Info2000 Programme - (1994-1998)
INFO2000 aimed at stimulating the emerging multimedia content industry to recognise and exploit new business opportunities. The central theme was the development of a European information content industry capable of competing on a global scale, and able to satisfy the needs of Europe's enterprises and citizens for information content, leading, on the one hand, to economic growth, competitiveness and employment, and, on the other hand, to individual, professional, social, and cultural development.

- Objectives: the project aims to present a multimedia archive of the cultural, social and economic upheaval of a year which, the authors would argue, had an enduring effect on European attitudes.

- Objectives: to address the issue of informing and educating young people on daily life in ancient Greece. In order to engage the user the series is focused on different scenarios.

- Objectives: to specify an European's Cultural Heritage 3D character database, to specify an on-line and off-line 3D character access and acquisition service (service 1), to specify an on-line and off-line live 3D character animation service (service 2) based on new motion capture technologies,

- Objective: to develop a multimedia database on the European glass heritage.

- Objectives: to present the Golden Age of Art Nouveau or Jugendstil throughout different approaches showing the common inspiration amongst the architects and artists of that time.

- Objectives: to produce an important reference work on painting techniques and art restoration skills. Multimedia, multilingual tools allow the authors to provide a deep experience of the creation, ageing and sensitive conservation of European artworks.

- Objectives: to present European Cultural History in a structured multimedia and interactive way, starting from prehistoric art to the most recent modern streams in the arts.

- Objectives: The objective of the Art Web project is to provide a single point of access over the Internet to a unique database of art images for multimedia developers and technologies and image databases developed through the Image-In project (DGXIII IMPACT). The individual museums that contribute to the central database will be entitled to the service of public access web site design with links to the central site of the picture libraries and its copyright database.

The objective of this presentation is to show historical documents, documents of oral history of survivors and scientific text in an integrated multimedia prototype.

Users will be able to circulate interactively and connect on-line to data using 3D, video and animation of plans.

- Objectives: to open up access to archives across the European Union to allow citizens to use Internet, to get information about the contents of the national archives of another European Union country, without geographical, language and cultural barriers.

- Objectives: to provide both researchers and multimedia companies with enhanced access to archive photograph collections. By working to current international standards of description, and by setting standard measures for archival quality of digital images, the integrated collections will be made available in different languages.

- Objectives: to provide acces to the cultural and heritage information resource of The National Trust's Fountains Abbey Cistercian monasteries.
- GREATCOM
- Great Composers (FR)
- Objectives: Great Composers is a CD-ROM which can be linked (via a modem) to a dedicated site on the World-wide Web. The CD-ROM is an enduring encyclopaedia of knowledge about the European composers and their music, while the web-site can provide the user with up-to-date news about concerts, festivals and events, and interactive facilities such as ticket-booking and a forum to discuss and listen to music.

- Objectives: to create SEE-ME, a world class, multimedia product designed to creatively use some of the existing wealth of European cultural content. SEE-ME will act as a flagship product, demonstrating the European Emigration in an exciting and engaging way.

- Objectives: to develop co-operatively a multi-linguistic interactive multimedia application and database on European culture to be distributed through off-line and on-line delivery channels. The application is targeting a large public audience: households, education institutions, universities, libraries, museums.
