PULMAN Digital Guidelines
These guidelines are intended to point public libraries and – more tentatively - their local cultural partner organisations into this era. Undoubtedly, these organisations will need to further reengineer their services and institutional basis in the decade to come. The guidelines are intended to assist policy makers and practitioners alike in thinking about the policies and strategies which their services are intended to support and how best they can achieve this. They indicate what types of service can be considered and identify key issues which need to be considered in their development and delivery. Finally, they provide a large number of examples of and links to initiatives already undertaken, from across the whole of Europe, which may help to illustrate what is already being done and what can be done.
The PULMAN guidelines will be reviewed throughout the remaining period of the work of the Thematic Network until April 2003. Comments and review will be sought by a number of means including national workshops in each country and a Policy Conference in Oeiras Portugal during March 2003. In the meantime, comments by e-mail are warmly invited from the public library community and from members of the public."
For more information: please see the guideline pages on the PULMAN Project's website http://www.pulmanweb.org/DGMs/dgms.htm
